More
than 225 years ago, John Adams - a man many consider to be among the country’s
greatest patriots, said “Government is instituted for the common
good; for the protection, safety, prosperity and happiness of the people;
and not for profit, honor, or private interest of one man, family, or
class of men”. John Adams goes on to say “the people alone
have an incontestable, unalienable and indefeasible right to institute
government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their
protection, safety, prosperity and happiness require it.”
This
quote sounds like it was written directly to the Bush Administration.
If ever there has been a time in our country’s history when John
Adam’s words ring true it’s today under the current Bush administration.
The government of the United States of America has turned it’s back
on the people and instead appears to be representing the interests of
rich corporations that place profit in front of all else. |
